Sustainable transport

We are prioritising sustainable, active forms of transport – helping reduce car use and emissions by building homes in the right place with public transport, walking and cycling options.

Maximising opportunities for public transport, walking and cycling

Our approach will minimise car use on what we know is a busy route into Bristol. However, our proposals go further by supporting the West of England Combined Authority’s emerging plans to upgrade the A4 Bath Road to give better priority for walking, cycling and buses. That’s why we’re safeguarding a corridor of land along the Bath Road and undertaking advanced planting and landscaping to enable the future delivery of the West of England Combined Authority’s plans.

Public right of way

Our proposals are also seeking to tie in with planned improvements to the public right of way network on Scotland Lane, alongside dedicated routes for walking and cycling along Stockwood Road.

Site access

Vehicles will access the site from the Bath Road. The entrance will comprise a new signalised junction, all of which will be subject to scrutiny by the highway authority. Links for walking and cycling only will be provided on to Stockwood Road and Scotland Lane to the south.

Detailed traffic surveys and assessments are ongoing, to be reported as part of a full ‘Transport Assessment’ accompanying any future outline planning application.
